Coaching or mentoring?
People often ask ‘what's the difference between coaching and mentoring?’
Coaching
Coaching is more targeted, often focused on developing specific skills or behaviours. Our role when we coach is to facilitate your thinking and potential and unlock your answers. Whilst our coaches may, from time to time, share their experiences with you, it's not a key part of the relationship.
Mentoring
Mentoring involves more sharing of personal experience and knowledge by the coach/mentor, and are often selected on this basis. The degree of formality and structure in the relationship varies tremendously and mentors often use coaching techniques to support their mentee to a great outcome.
